The analysis of religious rituals and ceremonies is important in order to understand the transformations of the local communities of South Italy after the Greek colonization. Two periods have been identified in the development of these rituals : the 6th and the 4th century BC. The 6th century is characterized by the building of sanctuaries which were meeting places for peoples of different origin, the presence of statues of gods in tombs of women and children and the development of domestic cults in prestigious households. During the 4th century, grew the importance of the domestic sacred space, different rituals and offerings were made during the construction, the day to day living and finally when the house was left, as all the findings from recent excavations can confirm
