The results of the analysis, based on the parameters of events and some features of seismicity that have occurred in the Lezha-Ulqini seismogenic zone during period of time 2001-2012, are presented in this paper. This seismogenic zone presents a significant seismic hazard to those living in northwestern Albania, southern Montenegro not only due to the pending earthquake but also due to a lots of earthquakes certain to follow the mainshock. In total, 112 earthquakes are registered during overmentioned period in this zone, and one with ML=5.0 (Richter) occurred on 21 August 2009. Lezha-Ulqini seismogenic zone present a threat to nearby urban areas in Albania and the Montenegro. The goal of this study is to determine tipology of seismicity, the source parameters of the mainshocks and their aftershocks in order to shed light on the seismotectonics of the area on the stress field and to evaluate the seismic hazard. The region affected by the August 2009 sequence, together with the seismogenic region of the 15 Aprile 1979 Ulqini event (M7.0), forms a roughly NW−SEtrending active seismotectonic zone in western Albania and continues through southern Montenegro

On the basis of the archival sources from the State archives in Venice (fonds of Council of ten and Venetian inquisiton) author has tried to reconstruct some aspect of the social and religious life in Ulcinj during the 40’s of the sixteenth century. The main protagonists of this study are archbishop of Bar Lodovico Chieregati (1528-1551) and his chief vicar nobleman of Bar and bishop of Ulcinj Jakov Dalmas. The latter bishop, according to the report of count and captain Baldassero Conduiero, was a principle culprit for the social and religious problems in the bishopric of Ulcinj. Namely, this count attempted to introduce some new noble families to the nobility of the city of Ulcinj, and the bishop opposed this idea. Archbishop Chieregati reacted because of this scrap, and he supported his envoy Dalmasi. Moreover, he accused some members of the Ulcinj’s nobility regarding their religious practice – namely because of the Protestantism. On the basis of his accusation author tried to reconstruct circumstances in Ulcinj and in archbishopric of Bar. Moreo

The article lays stress on trade relations between the Sanjak of Scutari (Shkodra) and the Republic of Venice in the first half of the XVIIIth Century (1700-1757). The Venetian Trade Authority of ‘Cinque Savi alla Mercanzia’ established the Lazzaretto of Castelnovo (Herzeg Novi) ofMontenegro in 1701 to quarantine the wares from the port of San Sergius of Scutari (Shën Shirqi i Shkodrës) and other ports of Albania. They instituted also the Venetian customs duty of the ‘Cottimo of Durazzo, Boiana of Scutari (Buna e Shkodrës) and the other ports of Albania’, and opened the Venetian vice-consulate of Scutari in 1706. During the first twenty years of XVIIIth Century, the trade relations between Durazzo (Durrës) and Venice were at its peak. So did also the wool trade of Scutari (Shkodra) that rendered Albania the leading partner of wool trade with Venice, providing with the Albanian wool the textile industry of Venice and the Northern Italy. Scutari had eight hundred merchants, who brought from the Albanian and the Balkan marketplaces and fairs the main products such as wool, leather, wax, tobacco, oil etc. They had set up almost a hundred and thirty companies in Venice. In 1736, Scutari was known in Venice as the most important city of Albania with a bazaar and one thousand shops. In 1745, its foreign trade spread also in Triest, Ancona, and Apulia on account also of the Dolcignote (Ulqin) vessels. Besides, the Scutarine trade reached high values during the period 1744-6 and 1746-

Kole Idromeno (1860-1939) Was a high-spirited and many-sided artist. Idromeno was born in the cradle of cultural-spiritual and Albanian contemporary civilization, in Shkodra. He had his first steps as an artist in the studio of the famous Italian photographer, Pietro Marubi, in Shkodra. After finishing the university in the Academy of the Fine Arts in Venecia, it’s the point when he succeeded as an artist. When he came back in his country, he didn’t find it easy because he was interned by the Turkish Authorities for a year (1897-1898). Idromeno was conspicuous as an architect, painter, musician and photographer. In 1912 for the first time in Albania he brought a camera to shoot cinematographic films. Useful values: The artist from Shkodra was the first walker of a new age in painting all over Albania. He achieved a lot of paintings with a new style and subject borrowed from Albanian life and tradition such as: “The garden of a house in Shkodra”, “Our sister”, “Cliff of Ulqin”, “Wedding in Shkodra”, “Father Shtjefen Gjecovi”, and wrote his name in aeternum in golden letters as the father of Albanian Renaissance painting. The purpose of research: In my esthetic- philosophical focus of a many-sided analysis, there’s the most impressive tableau of the painting “Two paths of life”, which belongs to the Renaissance period. It was the first announcer in that dark horizon due to the black shadow of 500-hundred Turkish invasion. It also contained critical elements and spirit and point

One of the most important challenges that the Albanian State had to accept in the first decades of its creation, was the preparation and the approval of a legal framework that was supposed to place several public and social rules. The Albanians did not experience the humanist period from 14th to 16th century as other European populations, because it was interrupted by the Ottoman occupation. So the only governmental tradition which survived during this epoc were the Canons: The Canon of Lekë Dukagjin (Kanuni i Lekë Dukagjinit) and the Canon of Skanderbeg (Kanuni i Skënderbeut). Albania gained its independency from the Ottoman Empire, but still the country was ruled by Sheriat (Shariat from Arab, šariʿa, shari’a, sharyat), most of all because of the fact that there was not a national legal framework until 1930. After the proclamation of the Monarchy and the approval of its Statute (Constitution), started the work on the preparation of different codes; the crucial one: The Civil Code. This process was the first step for the Albanian Legislator to compare the secularity of the European legal framework to the Ottoman Empire one. In Albania, there was a such coexistence between the old empiric laws, the religious traditions and the tribal laws survived from the past; a mixed regime like the diversity of the population itself. Keywords: Civil Code, Latin model, Sheriat, property, heritage, eurocodification
