Pomorstvo i jadranska trgovina

U ovom radu1 autor nastoji predočiti plovidbene rute srednjim i južnim Jadranom kao sastavnice glavnog istočnojadranskog dužobalnog plovidbenog pravca krajem XVI. stoljeća, i to onako kako ih donosi Giuseppe Rosaccio2 u svom “Viaggiu”. Najvažniji transverzalni plovidbeni pravac Jadranom također je vodio preko spomenutih srednjodalmatinskih otoka, zatim Palagruže i Tremitskog otočja do zapadne jadranske obale.

[EN] Both into the other parts of the Mediterranean Sea and but also further inside the mainland. Ulcinj’s highly prominent role in the maritime heritage of the Mediterranean, both as a port and later a fortified castle, has been studied and well documented. However, its relationship with the mainland is, for the lack of a better word, bland of a creative understanding of its potential as a cultural landscape. This paper therefore, aims to study this relationship with a focus on Ulcinj and its surrounding mainland in an attempt to narrate a landscape story that is anchored within the archaeological materiality and the natural elements in a progressively developing system, with the Buna River acting as its backbone. The connection of Ulcinj and Shkodra through the Buna River is an important segment not only as a historical trade route but also as a progressive envelopment of a rich cultural landscape. From Ulcinj and along the Adriatic Sea a delta encloses the isle of Buna as a strong natural feature, already setting the pace of this coast-to-mainland dynamic. The weaving flow of Buna river unveils the anthropocene landscape of agricultural patterns. Past these farmlands and partly sunk on the lake of Sash, lie the ruins of the city of Shas, an ancient settlement that is now a prospective archaeological area waiting to be discovered. Further along the river, the ruins of the Church of Shirgj appear near the bank, an idyllic prelude to the grandeur of old bridges, before the an

Razdoblje došašća i razdoblje nakon Božića nude složen presjek nekadašnje folklorne i liturgijsko-glazbene svijest istarskog, kvarnerskog i dalmatinskog područja: preklapanja zaostalih paganskih vjerovanja nadograđena su velikom kršćanskom tradicijom u rimokatoličkom i akvilejskom izričaju, koja se stoljećima oblikovala repertoare i društvene običaje vezane uz obredne proslave Božića, vrlo često u osmozi i s prekomorskim tradicija

Among the foreign influences in the Balkans, the Italian one was probably the last to express itself, but certainly not the least important. From the early 19th century, the Italian national movement, and later the Italian kingdom, was first a source of inspiration, and then a potential ally; finally, it would become an economic and political rival for the Balkan nations. Yet, the history of the two shores of Adriatic evolved in similar if not identical stages. The Risorgimento ended in 1870 and most of the Balkan states won their independence in 1878. The liberal Italy was a member of the Triple Alliance, while the Balkan states opted in their turn for one alliance or the other among the Concert of European powers at the turn of the century. The World War I brought to an end the respective national unifications on both shores of Adriatic and set the stage for their conflict or – in some cases – their alliances, in view of their respective strategies during the interwar period. The brief and inconclusive Italian war in the Balkans (1940-1943) ended in utter defeat, and opened the way for a different type of relations between Italy led by Christian Democrats and communist (with the exception of Greece) Balkan states. Economy and culture were the basis of relations between Italy and the Balkans in the post World War II period.Special Editions 123. In the early modern period, during the Venetian-Turkish wars, Zadar, as the capital city of the Venetian province of Dalmatia, represented one of the most powerful military strongholds of the Republic of Saint Mark on the eastern Adriatic. In the XVIIth century, during the period when two especially significant and long lasting Venetian-Turkish conflicts took place (the Candian and the Morean war), numerous military units, assembled by men from the broader area of the then contemporary (and former) Venetian territories from Istria to Albania, were active in Zadar and its surrounding area.

Usp. Tekavčić(1976). To su: 1) tip zamjene lat.-rom. nenaglašenog A; 2) tip zamjene lat.-rom. U u otvorenom slogu uključujući i refleks sufiksa -ŌNA; 3) tip zamjene lat.-rom. grupa tipa -VNC-; 4) tip zamjene lat.-rom. grupa tipa -VRC-; i 5) metaplazam A- > o-. Osim toga obrađena su i tri nova kriterija: 6) tip zamjene lat.-rom. E; 7) tip refleksa deminutivnog sufika -ŬLU; i 8) status s.-h. kvantitete u lat.-rom. otvorenoj penultimi. Dedicated to the period of the original Slavo-Romance contact (7-13 c. AD) the present work tackles the stratification of the oldest Romance borrowings in Serbo-Croatian and its issues. In particular, five existing criteria have been re-visited. Cf. Tekavčić (1976). These are: 1) Lat.-Rom. unstressed A and the type of its substitution; 2) Lat.-Rom. U in the open syllable and the type of its substitution including the reflex of the suffx -ŌNA; 3) L

The early-modern Adriatic was a conduit for the exchange of goods, ideas, and people. At the time, this region was divided between three leading economic and political powers: the Republic of Venice, the Ottoman Empire, and the Holy Roman Empire. It was also filled with a diverse array of peoples of different ethnicities and religions. Nevertheless, these people interacted across these political and cultural boundaries on a daily basis. This thesis will look at how the material culture produced, traded, and used in this region was able to help create and define the identities of individuals and groups. The trade of glass is the specific focus of this research, as it was able to be shaped and manipulated by craftsmen to fulfil the needs and desires of the consumer. This was also a thriving industry in Venice, which led the way in both technology and fashion. Venetian products were traded around the world, and these objects were replicated in factories throughout Europe. The Ottoman Empire was a large market for goods produced both in Venice and in the study area at Dubrovnik. In the past, scholarly attention has generally been concentrated on the direct interactions between Venice and the Ottoman Empire. However, as this study aims to demonstrate, this industry also relied on the participation of intermediaries, both individuals and smaller port cities in the eastern Adriatic. It will therefore examine how and where this glass was made, how it was transported to its final de

The purpose of the research paper is to examines the historical significance of Dyrrhachium (modern-day Durrës), as a pivotal economic, commercial, and political center in the Adriatic region from antiquity to the medieval period. The scientific novelty resides in its meticulous exploration of Dyrrhachium’s economic, commercial, and political significance in during Antiquity and the early Middle Ages. The research elucidates the city’s remarkable ability to navigate and thrive amidst various external challenges, offering invaluable insights into the dynamics of the Adriatic region during both ancient and medieval periods. This study contributes to a nuanced understanding of regional interactions and socio-economic dynamics, shedding light on the intricate interplay of factors that shaped Dyrrhachium’s enduring prominence. Conclusion. Dating back to its establishment by Hellenic settlers around 625 BCE, Dyrrhachium witnessed a remarkable trajectory of development under various rulers, including the Romans and Byzantines, despite enduring significant external threats such as Ostrogoth and Slavic invasions. Notably, the construction of the Egnatia road served as a catalyst, amplifying Dyrrhachium’s economic importance by facilitating trade between the Eastern and Western regions. Through tumultuous times, Dyrrhachium showcased remarkable economic resilience, ultimately emerging as the preeminent city in the Byzantine Empire’s Balkan region. The despite facing numerous p

The purpose of the research paper is to delve into the historical and legal significance of the Statutes of Shkodra, a set of legal codes that governed the city of Shkodra during its Venetian period until its eventual occupation by the Ottoman Empire in 1479. The scientific novelty. The article provides a novel perspective on The Statutes of Shkodra by emphasising their unique contribution to European legal traditions and their role in shaping the foundation of positive law in Albania, particularly through the principle of personal freedom. Conclusions. The Statutes of Shkodra hold exceptional value for understanding the civil and social dynamics of Shkodra during the Middle Ages. These statutes, primarily modelled on the legal and social structures of the Italian-Dalmatian cities along the Adriatic coast, were also influenced by the Slavic-Byzantine world. This fusion of influences shaped a unique set of laws and civic regulations that reflected both regional characteristics and broader European medieval traditions. Drafted on Albanian soil, the Statutes of Shkodra maintain a distinctly local character, preserving the authenticity of the Albanian documentary tradition while incorporating external legal and administrative norms. The statutes demonstrate how Shkodra’s urban governance was structured in alignment with the legal frameworks of Western Europe, particularly concerning commerce, social relations, and public administration. Through these statutes, we gain ac

This thesis attempts to create an architectural vision for the future healthy evolution of the Lu?tica peninsula, a very potent and unique site along the Adriatic coast in Serbia and Montenegro. While acknowledging the contemporary and increasingly important need for ecological incentives in designing, planning and management of our environments, the thesis utilizes the holistic ecosystems approach as a methodological tool to ravel the site's inherent organizational and operational complexities. Imagined and embodied in a Natural and Cultural Heritage Park, the development vision is fundamentally driven by the idea of immortality of a place, scholastically termed as the sense of a place. Therefore, the focus of this thesis is embedded in the search, discovery and eventually, safeguarding and enhancement of Lu?tica's Genius Loci, ensuring its ecological and economical sustainability and the overall health of its reconciled natural and cultural communities. By proposing a resolution for existing problems and fostering intrinsic potentials of the site, the thesis ultimately reads as a new paradigm for developing our environments wherein the spirit of a place plays a quintessential role and often signifies their very identity and meaning
